Not everyone is lucky to enjoy beautiful weather on their holidays, especially here in Iceland. You should be prepared for strong winds, rains, storms and more. Sometimes you might even get trapped in one area if the roads get closed. That’s why we prepared this list of 4 things to do in Golden Circle area in bad weather!
Efstidalur ice cream farm
There is no bad time for ice cream, especially the homemade one. Every Icelander would completely agree with that. Efstidalur farm offers lots of flavors of homemade ice cream as well as some options for lunch and dinner. Another great thing about this stop is that you will be able to see live cows just outside the eating area! It is a great place to eat as well as to get entertained by cute animals.

Laugarvatn Fontana Spa
While the weather is bad, get cozy and relax in Laugarvatn Fontana Spa. Unwind in geothermal springs, heat up in one of the steam rooms and then jump in a freezing lake – experience of a lifetime! There is a little nice café as well for a quick lunch break. Fontana Spa also offers daily visits to geothermal bakery. You can experience the Icelandic way of making lava bread!
Laugarvatn Fontana is open all year round (11:00 to 22:00 in winter season and 10:00 to 23:00 in summer)
Fridheimar tomato farm
Ever had lunch in a greenhouse surrounded by tomatoes and noise of cute little bees flying around? Well then it’s time to try it! Fridheimar tomato farm is offering great all you can eat tomato soup with home-made bread (and some other options on the menu as well) in an amazing surroundings.
The farm is open daily from 12:00 to 16:00. We recommend reserving a table in advance.
Secret Lagoon is located in small village Fludir, where you can bath in natural hot springs. You will surely get the true Icelandic feeling there! The pool is in natural surroundings and steam makes this place magical. During winter you might be lucky and see the Northern Lights!
The Secret Lagoon is open all year (11:00 to 20:00 in winter season and 10:00 to 22:00 in summer). Important: the lagoon receives big amount of groups daily between 15:00 and 17:30, so it’s the best to avoid this time if you wish to take a peaceful bath.
Of course you don’t need bad weather to be able to visit these places. They are great all the time and you might want to add them to your bucket list!
