Private Myvatn Tour with Dog Sledding Adventure – Winter

This private tour is a perfect combination of dog sledding and a super jeep tour around the famous lake Mývatn. During winter, the Mývatn area is of bizarre beauty. The lava towers of Dimmuborgir rise from the snow, and in the background you see the black ash crater Hverfjall and the hot water vapors in the geothermal areas rise in great columns in the sky.

On this private Myvatn tour from Akureyri, you will visit all the main sights in Myvatn such as the pseudocraters in Skutustadir, the lava park Dimmuborgir, the geothermal area of Námafjall with its bubbling mud pools, the continental divide as well as Godafoss – the “Waterfall of the Gods”. This tour takes place in a super jeep and the advantage of this being a private tour is definitely the added comfort and great flexibility. Your guide will do everything in his power to satisfy your needs.

Another highlight will be of course the dog sledding. Your guide will attach the huskies to the sled wherever snow conditions are best – an experience in pristine nature. At the end of this winter fairy tale experience, you will warm up and relax in the amazing waters of the Myvatn Nature Baths.

Private Myvatn Tour – Important Information about the Dog Sledding

As mentioned, the super jeep tour to and around Myvatn is a private tour, but so you know, the dog sledding part of this tour is semi-private (max 6 pax), where other people might join in. There are 2 sleds per turn, so 2 guests can be steering a sled at the same time.

You are assisted by an experienced musher who will be joining you. If e.g. you are a group of 4, 2 will be riding the sled whilst the other 2 can take pictures and/or have a walk or a drive in the jeep in beautiful surroundings and to their departure point.

By booking you agree that due to weather/snow conditions the tour might be rescheduled to another time during the same day or evening/night and night tours possibly to the following morning; this rescheduling is no reason for cancellation/refund.

In case of abnormal weather (warm spells and lack of snow) we reserve the right to change to dog scootering. (scooter pulled by 1 to 2 huskies) In the rare case, the tour can not take place at all due to outer circumstances the tour operator refunds the full amount minus 25€ administration fee. Under no other circumstance, a refund is granted. Please only book a tour when you agree to this.
