Ice caves form naturally each year and are shaped by flowing water which enters the glacier from cracks and crevasses and over time they get bigger by erosion and melting. Your guide will choose the safest ice cave at the time of your visit. The temperature must be well below the freezing point for an ice cave to be considered safe to visit. The ice caves you will visit on this tour are normally not as big as the so-called crystal caves, but it will be normally less crowded and will give you a more personal experience inside the ice cave.
Please take note that the meeting point of the tour is Skaftafell National Park, and you need to arrange your transportation there yourself. In winter, driving time is usually affected by road conditions, so please make sure that you give yourself enough time for reaching the meeting point.
