Ice Cave Day Tour From Reykjavik

In the morning, you will start your adventure, as your guide will pick you up at a designated pickup location. The guide will drive you through the lush farmlands of the south, heading to a town called Vík. The sights of the south coast are never tiring and will leave you speechless, with the ocean on one side and spectacular mountains as well as cliffs on the other.

As you reach your destination Vík, you will continue your journey to the mesmerizing ice cave. A huge super jeep will bring you to the hidden ice cave, which is located beneath the volcano Katla. On this adventurous ride, you enter an otherworldly scenery and enjoy gorgeous views. The drive takes about 40 minutes and will take you to the roots of the glacier Kötlujökull, where it is time to put on the crampons and helmets for safety reasons.

Now, you are ready to walk on the epic black, blue, and white glacier. The natural ice cave is like no other, as you are able to enter it all year round. The largest cave in this area is magnificent with a hole at the top and great formations that occurred after the water had been swirling down. You will have plenty of time to admire the formations and catch this magical wonderland on camera. Who knows, your guide might also surprise you with pure glacier water for you to taste!

On your way back to Reykjavík, you will stop at both Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss (only available from April 1st due to the shorter daylight in winter). These waterfalls are some of the most famous waterfalls here in Iceland. This is due to their mesmerizing appearance. You will be back in the city in the evening.
