Everyone who comes to Iceland for the first time asks: ‘’What is the must-see place that I should not miss?’’. Well, the answer is simple: Go on a Golden Circle tour. This guided minibus tour gives you the opportunity to visit some of the best sites in Iceland. Besides the visits to Þingvellir National Park, Geysir geothermal area, and Gullfoss waterfall, you will also make some special extra stops.
In the morning, your guide picks you up from your accommodation in Reykjavik.
The Golden Circle tour starts with a visit to Þingvellir National Park. Þingvellir, famous for its beauty, geological and historical value, was accepted as UNESCO’s heritage site in 2004. There, the Eurasian and American tectonic plates meet and you can walk in between the plates. You will then take a family-friendly walk to Öxarárfoss waterfall.
After exploring Þingvellir, you will continue to the geothermally active valley of Haukadalur. There you will see Iceland’s most impressive and famous geyser, called Strokkur. Strokkur erupts about every 4 to 8 minutes, sometimes up to 40 meters high. The next exciting site on your schedule is Gullfoss, Iceland’s most famous waterfall.
To top off your Golden Circle adventure, you will visit Efstidalur, a unique dairy farm where you will taste their homemade, famous fresh ice cream and also meet their friendly cows and other farm animals. After that, in Laugarvatn geothermal area you will learn how rye bread used to be made, which will be followed by a delicious lunch at Friðheimar tomato greenhouse (lunch not included in the price). The last stop on the schedule is Kerið crater lake.
After that, your guide will bring you back to Reykjavik, where he will drop you off.
This Golden Circle tour is very popular. In case this tour is fully booked for your travel dates we recommend checking our Iceland Golden Circle tour with bathe in a hot spring, or our Golden Circle tour by super jeep.
