Not many people can say that they have walked on a glacier – this easy and safe glacier tour is your chance to be one of them! Enjoy a breathtaking 3 hours glacier walk on the Sólheimajökull glacier tongue in the South of Iceland.
Welcome to the world of snow and ice on Sólheimajökull glacier. Before setting out onto the glacier your guide will teach you how to use the basic glacier equipment – crampons and ice axes. During this 3-hour tour, you will explore the wonderland of ice formations, ridges, and deep crevasses. The glacier walk does not require any special skills and the tour can be enjoyed by people of all levels in good health (minimum age requirement: 8 years)
You will see the different shades of the glacier – white ice, blue ice, and plain clear ice. In some areas, you will also see different shades of black – ash from the last eruption of Eyjafjallajokull in 2010. The view down the glacier is amazing when you are standing on the glacier tongue. This glacier walk is a great way to experience the wild nature of Iceland.
