Welcome to Iceland! After arriving at Keflavík International Airport, you will be transported to your accommodation in Reykjavík. This will be by Flybus (budget category) or by our private driver (comfort/ quality category). Your travel documents will either be handed to you by your driver or wait for you at your accommodation. If you would like to indulge in some luxury, we can arrange for you a stop at the famous Blue Lagoon. After soaking in the milky blue waters of the lagoon, you will then head to your accommodation in Iceland‘s beautiful capital city.
Afterward, enjoy a day in this charming city. Visit sights such as the Sun Voyager sculpture; the Harpa music and conference hall and the old harbor in Reykjavík. Furthermore, no visit is complete without a visit to Hallgrímkirkja, Reykjavík‘s landmark. You can take an elevator to the top and enjoy a spectacular view. We can also arrange for optional activities, such as a helicopter sightseeing tour; a Reykjavík walking tour or even a visit into a dead volcano chamber (summer only). In the evening, we recommend a cozy dinner in one of the city’s gourmet restaurants, to celebrate the start of your unforgettable Iceland and Greenland holiday. Overnight in Reykjavík.
Today, your Iceland and Greenland holiday start for real! In the morning, you will receive your rental car. Afterward, you are more than welcome to come to our Reykjavík office for an optional private information meeting. We love going over your travel plans with you and tell you about some more hidden gems.
Next, it is time to hit the road and start exploring Iceland. Drive to Þingvellir National Park, one of the most spectacular and unique places here and thus a definite must-see. Because of its’ beauty and geological as well as historical value, Þingvellir was accepted as UNESCO World Heritage Site back in 2004. Þingvellir is the site where the Vikings first assembled in ancient times. Here, you can also see how the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates are diverging. You can thus even go on an optional snorkeling or diving tour in the Silfra rift and snorkel or dive in between two continents. This will be one of the most unique experiences you have ever made.
After exploring the wonders of Þingvellir, visit the Geysir geothermal fields and Gullfoss waterfall; to complete the so-called “Golden Circle”. In the afternoon, you can enjoy a relaxing soak in the Secret Lagoon and visit the crater Kerið, before driving to your accommodation for the night. It is located in the Hella/ Hvolsvöllur area.
Today, you will be exploring some of the highlights of the south coast of Iceland. This area has many spectacular sights and informative museums. Before going sightseeing, we thus highly recommend a visit to the LAVA Centre museum in Hvolsvöllur, one of our personal favorites. You can learn more about the volcanic activity in the area there.
Afterward, your first stop will be Seljalandsfoss waterfall, famous for being one of the few waterfalls, you can walk behind. Close by, you will find its’ little brother Gljúfrabúi. Furthermore, you will go to Skógar, where you can visit the Skógar folk museum and witness the power of the mighty Skógafoss waterfall. Here, you can do optional activities such as snowmobiling on the glacier Mýrdalsjökull; glacier walking/ hiking or ice climbing on the glacier Sólheimajökull. You might also want to consider going on an ATV tour on the black sands of Sólheimasandur, it is so much fun!
To end your day, we highly recommend a stroll on the Reynisfjara black sand beach. Be stunned by the beautiful Reynisdrangar basalt stacks, before visiting the charming town of Vík. You will stay the night in the Vík/ Kirkjubæjarklaustur area.
Today, it is time to visit Skaftafell, a wilderness area which is part of the Vatnajökull National Park. In Skaftafell, you will find many nice hiking trails, including one that leads you to the waterfall Svartifoss. The waterfall has pitch-black hexagonal basalt columns. Here, we can arrange for you to join an optional glacier hike or an ice climbing tour on the glacier Svínafellsjökull.
After exploring the wonders of Skaftafell, continue to the Fjallsárlón Glacier Lagoon. On a clear day, you can enjoy fantastic views over the glacier. The floating icebergs will for sure take your breath away. To complete your day, make your way to the glacier lagoon Jökulsárlón. During summertime, you can enjoy an optional boat or kayaking tour and sail across the icebergs. Those who are interested in literature can visit the nearby Þórbergur Center. The cultural heritage museum features the life and works of the writer Þórbergur Þórðarsson. There are also many artifacts from his life, including a replica of the small house he grew up in. You will spend the night in the glacier lagoon/ Höfn area.
It is time to say goodbye to Southeast Iceland and head back towards Reykjavík. If you would like to start your day with an adventure, we can arrange for you to join an optional puffin watching tour to Ingólfshöfði, a private nature reserve. If you have not already done so, you can also join the super jeep tour to the glacier Vatnajökull today. We highly recommend this tour.
During your drive back to Reykjavík, you can visit some of the sights you may have missed on your way East; or explore areas such as the beautiful Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon. Make sure to stop at Dyrhólaey, a natural stone arch that stretches into the sea and is home to thousands of seabirds during the summer months. Upon arrival in Reykjavík, you will return your rental car and check into your accommodation.
It is time for a change of scenery! You will fly to Greenland today and we are sure that this will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
In the morning, you will be transported to the domestic airport of Reykjavík, where you will board a three-hour flight to Ilulissat, a town that is located in western Greenland. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by a representative from your accommodation, who will transfer you to your accommodation. In the afternoon, you can enjoy a walk through this charming and colorful town; watch the local huskies (Greenland dog); visit the Knud Rasmussen Museum, or simply relax and enjoy the view towards the Ilulissat Icefjord. Ilulissat is renowned for its beautiful and breathtaking Ice Fjord. In the evening, you will join an Icefjord boat cruise. The icebergs reach up to 100 meters above sea level. These large pieces of ice have broken off from Sermeq Kujalleq, the most productive glacier in the northern hemisphere.
Today, you will have a free day to enjoy Ilulissat and its’ surroundings. We can arrange for optional day tours, such as a boat cruise up to the glacier Eqi; a helicopter sightseeing flight; or a visit to a local village, just to name a few. You can also do some hiking on your own or join a guided city walk.
In the evening, we recommend a nice local dinner at Hotel Arctic. Their gourmet cuisine is recognized as one of the best in the country. We encourage you to sample the Greenlandic dishes, but there will also be more familiar dishes. You will overnight at the same accommodation as the previous night.
Today, you will be heading back to Iceland, after what has most definitely been a phenomenal experience for you. In the morning, you still have some time to stroll around town and pick up some locally handcrafted souvenirs, before a hotel representative will take you to the local airport of Ilulissat.
Upon arrival in Reykjavík (late afternoon/evening), you will be picked up at the airport and transported to your accommodations in the city center.
Today, you will have a free day in Reykjavík. So, relax after your tour! If you want to be like us Icelanders, we suggest a visit to one of our many geothermally heated swimming pools. Afterward, you can go on a little shopping spree. You will find many interesting shops with local handcrafts and designs on Laugavegur. There is also plenty of charming cafés.
Furthermore, it is possible to do some more optional activities that will make for the perfect end of your Iceland and Greenland holiday, promise! If you are adventurous, we highly recommend a super jeep day tour to Landmannalaugar, in the Icelandic Highlands. If you wish to see Iceland from above, we can also arrange for an optional helicopter tour. What could be better? Furthermore, there is the option of going on a volcano and lava cave tour. This will be an unforgettable guided tour inside the volcano Þríhnúkagígur. We know the name is quite a mouthful, but so is the tour itself. Moreover, there is also always the option of going on a whale watching tour. The tour takes approximately three hours.
If you are afraid of getting sea-sick, we recommend a visit to one of our many museums. We highly recommend the National Museum as well as the Reykjavík 871±2 Settlement Exhibition and we suggest dinner at a charming gourmet restaurant. Enjoy the last night of your Iceland and Greenland holiday and overnight at your accommodation in Reykjavík.

Reykjavík is the capital and biggest city of Iceland with a population of approximately 124,000. It is the northernmost capital in the world. Despite its small size, you can find many attractions and museums, making Reykjavik a popular destination.
Hallgrímskirkja Church is most certainly Reykjavík´s best-known landmark. The white concrete Church whose image is printed in many postcards, dominates the city. As a matter of fact its tower can be seen from almost every corner of Reykjavík. Its distinctive and futuristic exterior made the Church one of the most visited spots in Reykjavík.
Laugavegur is the main shopping street in Reykjavik and it is located in the heart of the city. Its name means literally „wash road“ as this was once the route to the hot springs where many Icelanders took their clothes to launder. Today it is a vibrant and innovative street filled with designer ateliers, tourist gift shops, bars, and restaurants.
Harpa is the famous concert hall and conference center located in Reykjavik. The building features a distinctive and original colored glass facade inspired by the basalt landscape of Iceland. Its unique architecture makes it one of Reykjavik most loved landmarks.
Alþingi is the national parliament of Iceland. It is one of the oldest parliaments in the world, founded in 930 at Þingvellir National Park. It is located in downtown Reykjavik.
Geysir is the famous hot spring area located in the Haukadalur valley. The main attraction is known as Strokkur, which erupts energetically at regular intervals of 10 minutes or so its boiling waterjets can reach as high as 30 meters.
Gullfoss, also called the Golden Waterfall, is one of the most iconic gems of the likewise named Golden Circle. The waterfall is located in the upper part of the River Hvíta. Gullfoss is actually two separate waterfalls, the upper one has a drop of 11 meters and the lower one 21 meters.
Kerið is a volcanic crater lake located in the area called Grímsnes in the South of Iceland, along the famous Golden Circle route. The crater walls are steep and often covered with Icelandic moss. The inside of the crater is a lake whose water is aquamarine colored due to the minerals from the soil. The crater is 55 meters deep and about 3000 years old.
Seljalandsfoss is one of the most famous and visited waterfalls in Iceland. It located along the South Coast of the Country right by the road n. 1. The waterfall is part of the Seljalands river that originated from the famous volcano glacier Eyjafjallajökull. The waterfall is approximately 60-meter high and it is famous for its path that leads visitor behind its powerful water flow.
Skógafoss is a waterfall located on the Skógá river on the South Coast of Iceland. This picture-perfect waterfall descends 60 meters from the cliffs. Before pouring down the cliffs becoming the famous waterfall, the river flows through the Skógárgil gorge.
Reynisfjara is a famous black sand beach in the South of Iceland, just next to the village of Vik. Black sand, lava formations, and basalt columns make it a popular stop for all visitors.
Reynisdrangar cliffs are towering basalt-type rock formations situated near the shore of Reynisfjara black sand beach, on the South Coast of Iceland. The folk legend wants them to be the rocky representation of two trolls turned into stone after being caught by the sunlight after dawn.
Vík is the southernmost village in Iceland, located on the ring road (Road number 1), featuring the impressive and popular black sand beach.
Jökulsárlón is a large glacial lake located in the Southeast of Iceland on the edge of the Vatnajökull National Park. The Lagoon developed into a lake after the glacier started receding from the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. The lake can be seen from Route 1 between Höfn and Skaftafell. The lagoon offers outstanding views of the ice cap and it is one of the most spectacular and loved, natural destinations in all Iceland.
Höfn is an Icelandic fishing town located in the southeastern part of the Country. The town, the second largest in the southeastern part of Iceland, offers scenic views of Vatnajökull (the largest ice cap in Europe by volume). The main economic activities in Höfn are fishing and tourism. The location is also well known for its culinary tradition with lobster being the most acclaimed specialty of the area.
Fjaðárgljúfur Canyon is a massive canyon located in South East Iceland and is about 100 meters deep and 2 km long. It is thought to be about two million years old and is crossed by Fjaðrá river, making it a perfect stop for great photos.
The famous promontory named Dyrhólaey is located in the south coast of Iceland. From this peninsula, that once was a volcanic island, the views are stunning. Glacier, lava columns, the open sea. The highlight of this area is the lava arch that is standing in the ocean. Dyrhólaey is also well known for its puffin colonies during the summertime.

Ilulissat combines all the magical elements of Greenland, the big blue icebergs, North of Arctic Circle, Greenland Dogs, and the wilderness. Sermeq Kujalleq, the the world’s fastest glacier is nearby Ilulissat. It advances 40 meters daily and creates 46 cubic kilometers of icebergs annually.
Almost every visitor in Ilulissat chooses to try this boat trip among the icebergs at least once. During one year, more than 48 km3 of ice flows into the fiord. The result is gigantic icebergs, which can be more than 100 meters on each side and with a height on more than 100 meters above the water surface. These giants strand at the end of the fiord, and that gives us the opportunity to sail among them.
The icebergs are beautiful in every kind of weather; in the sunshine the contrasts are very clear, the blue shades are seen best when it is cloudy and the midnight sun casts a unique glow on the icebergs during the night.
Midnight sun in Ilulissat lasts from May 21st to July 24th. The midnight/evening sun gives the icebergs a unique play of colors that people return to experience again and again. Sailing during the night with the sun still shining is a fantastic and unusual experience; you do not want to be without, while visiting Ilulissat.
