What if I need to cancel my tour?
We regret that we are unable to offer a full refund in the case of cancellation. The cancellation fee depends upon the length of notice and type of booking. Please refer to our Booking Information section “Cancellations.”
Where is Iceland Unlimited located?
Iceland Unlimited operates in Iceland and Greenland. The company has its headquarters in Suðurlandsbraut 34, 108 Reykjavík
Can I drive in Iceland with my foreign driver’s license?
Yes. Visitors can drive in Iceland with a valid driver's license from their home country. If your license is not in Latin script, an international driving permit is recommended.
Can I customize my private tour to include both cultural experiences and outdoor activities?
Yes. That's exactly what a private tour is designed for. Your Travel Consultant will plan a mix based on what matters most to you: a morning at a geothermal pool, an afternoon walking to a waterfall, an evening in a turf church. The balance is yours to decide.
What's the difference between a private tour and a self-drive tour?
On a self-drive tour, you drive yourself with a planned route and accommodation arranged in advance. On a private tour, a local guide drives and accompanies you for the full day or trip. Your guide handles navigation, adapts the itinerary as you go, and gives you on-the-ground knowledge you won't get from a map or a phone.
How far in advance should I book a private tour?
For most trips, 2 to 4 months ahead is comfortable. Summer (June through August) fills quickly, and accessible or multi-destination trips that need specialist vehicles or coordinated logistics benefit from more lead time. Your Travel Consultant will let you know what's realistic when you get in touch.
How does the planning process work?
You get in touch, and a Travel Consultant based in Reykjavík reaches out directly. They'll ask about your interests, group size, travel dates, and any specific needs. From there they'll put together an itinerary. Most people go back and forth a couple of times before confirming. Nothing is locked in until you're happy with it.
