Today, you will be exploring some of the highlights of the south coast of Iceland. This area has many spectacular sights and informative museums. Before going sightseeing, we thus highly recommend a visit to the LAVA Centre museum in Hvolsvöllur, one of our personal favorites. You can learn more about the volcanic activity in the area there. Afterward, your first stop will be Seljalandsfoss waterfall, famous for being one of the few waterfalls, you can walk behind. Close by, you will find its’ little brother Gljúfrabúi. Furthermore, you will go to Skógar, where you can visit the Skógar folk museum and witness the power of the mighty Skógafoss waterfall. Here, you can do optional activities such as snowmobiling on the glacier Mýrdalsjökull; glacier walking/ hiking or ice climbing on the glacier Sólheimajökull. You might also want to consider going on an ATV tour on the black sands of Sólheimasandur, it is so much fun! To end your day, we highly recommend a stroll on the Reynisfjara black sand beach. Be stunned by the beautiful Reynisdrangar basalt stacks, before visiting the charming town of Vík. You will stay the night in the Vík/ Kirkjubæjarklaustur area.
